Project in collaboration with TAVEX

Mulier is a collection that takes the example of Joan of Arc as a feminist symbol and a great symbol within the Catholic Church as she is a saint. This project is a personal manifestation of considering that, like Juana, I can be both. Being developed in the first months of the pandemic, I was faced with several restrictions. For example, materials, labor, resources, etc. So this project was a great example of how I was able to solve a problem with so many restrictions and still end up with a pretty successful product, at least in my opinion.

Joan of Arc, symbol of  strength, rebellion, "masculinity" and discernment. Mulier takes these principles that inspire me to create a silhouette that in its time would have been a bit challenging,  capturing in the garments qualities that are found in what was considered to be masculine within a slightly more feminine aesthetic. Throughout the collection there are symbols that are reinforced by materials such as denim, which, as we know, its original use was for workers since it was for "rough use". The textile interventions, inspired by the virgin's garments, return to delicacy or purity, but with a revolutionary approach since the technique was inspired by graffiti. Specifically, graffiti within feminist demonstrations, as a symbol of non-conformity and demand.

I consider that this project was very successful, since it was a very enriching, aesthetic process and that in the end it meets my main objective as a designer, to be able to evoke or incite a conversation about topics that are fundamental within my personality. This project taught me how I can work under pressure and that no matter what happens or how many limitations there are, my creativity always flows, in fact they are the engine to find new ways to create and they motivate me to see new approaches to different scenarios of my life.  ;
